Hey all. If you've been following my amateur comics for long then you'll notice that my style has swerved all over the road in the last few years while I find the way I enjoy working. I've gone from attempted realistic, painterly style to more contemporary line art style. Very recently I think I've really found how I want to draw, the most recent page of Luxuria feeling like the best I've ever done ^_^
I'm not that good at rendering (the process of adding light and shadow detail into the colours) nor do I enjoy it that much, so I've been adjusting my style so most of that light and shadow information is handled in the line art and beta stages (beta is when you fill in big blocks of black around the line art) so that the image looks complete even with a flat colouring scheme.
I still have some learning to do, and I've wanted to draw in black and white as a way of forcing myself to learn how best to achieve this effect, the challenge being to make the pages look clean and easily readable without any colour to assist.
But I've already got too many commitments in Luxuria and Out of Reach, so I thought what I'd do to kill two birds with one stone is to do these two comics in black and white, then colour them and submit them like I have been, but then submit the black and white versions to my scraps folder.
